Where To Submit

It’s a warm, sunny afternoon in Braddock, PA.  I’m sitting on the stoop in front of the Braddock Employment And Training Center where I’m taking Modern Office Systems Training at the Community College of Allegheny County.

I’ve come up with an idea.  Right now there are six publications in the sidebar of The Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette that publishes flash fiction.  How about once a week I review one of the publications?  I know that at least two of the publications are paying markets and at least one nominates flash fiction writers that it publishes for the Pushcart Award.

Well, it’s an idea.  I think it’s a pretty good idea.

Election 2008

Tomorrow is the election.  My plan is to get up early and vote before going to school which might make me late for school but I don’t want to stand in a long line to vote so I’ll vote early, like as soon as the polls open.

Yesterday, I only accomplished three out of four things on my agenda.  I did my food shopping.  I did my laundry and I balanced my check book.  I didn’t clean my apartment.  I’ll try to do some cleaning today after school.

I’m going to renew my efforts to find some sort of employment now that I’ve figured out that my MFA is counted against me when I apply for certain jobs.  Why hire a guy with an MFA when the position only requires a high school diploma or two years of college?

Today, I’ll probably leave school around 2:30 pm so that I can get home and reset my voicemail.  Since my full phone service was temporarily discontinued I have to set up a new pass word and everything.  If someone did want to hire me and left me a voicemail I wouldn’t be able to listen to it.
