Down And Out In Pittsburgh

It’s lunch time at the Braddock Employment And Training Center.  Already today I applied for a position as a File Clerk and as an Office Assistant online through www.careerlinkpittsburgh.com

Out here on the stoop in front of BETC the sun is warm and it doesn’t feel like November 5th at all.  The trucks rush up and down Braddock Avenue and there are hardly any clouds in the blue sky.  I wish I had a job.  If the state hiring freeze last until February I’ll retake the state civil service exam again in March.  I just hope my final score is another 95 or higher.  This hiring freeze can’t last forever.

Wednesday

Barack Obama is the president-elect.  Joe Biden is the vice-president-elect.

The bus drivers are threatening to go on strike on December 1st.  I won’t be able to get to the Braddock Employment And Training Center if they do.

The high today will be 68.

My voicemail is working again.  There were no calls from potential employers, only calls from bill collectors.

My gout is finally gone.  I’ve cut way back on my consumption of beer.

I bought three note pads and a box of #2 pencils.  This weekend I’ll start on a brand new piece of flash fiction, 500 words or less, to submit to the Vestal Review which is in the blogroll.
