How much of real life goes into my flash fiction stories? That’s a tough question. I do consider myself a “realistic minimalist”. I don’t write fantasy and pass it off as fiction; but I’m not a news reporter simply jotting down actual events and passing them off as flash fiction, either.
See, the problem is that real life is messy and good flash fiction is very neat. Flash fiction always has a resolution while often in life the only resolution is the passage of time or death.
So, how much real life goes into my flash fiction stories? A hell of a lot. Is it all true. Well, of course not.
