Day Before Thanksgiving

It’s 1:30 pm and the holiday has begun for me.  What a relief there will be no bus strike.  Man, I would have been screwed.

Well, here we are now in Hemingway’s.  Lynn is behind the bar.  The $1.50 big draft special is Blue Moon.

The Harvest Party at the employment and training center was pretty good.  There were all kinds of food to eat and punch to drink.  I won’t have to eat when I get home.  Home.  An empty apartment.  Empty as in no one else there.  I wonder why I never married.

I’ll have another Blue Moon and then go home.

Del’s

Before I did my shopping I just had to stop at Del’s Italian restaurant in Bloomfield.  There standing at the bar was John, one of the owners, and the Bluesman, an old karaoke regular.  Behind the bar was Dana.

John and the Bluesman each bought me a beer.  The three of us talked about old times when I was a Friday night karaoke regular and they tried to talk me into coming back tonight.  John was having a special Wednesday night karaoke.  I had a very pleasant time.

I left and did my shopping at Shure Save supper market.  I picked out a cheese dish for the Harvest Party at the employment and training center; but I won’t be doing any karaoke at Del’s until I get a job.

Yesterday

I was going to wait for the 54C to get to Bloomfield but at 5:40 pm it’s probably packed and I hate packed buses.  So, I’ll just have to suck it up and walk the two blocks from my apartment to the Millvale Street Bridge, walk over the bridge which is about one block long and then on a little more to Liberty Avenue and West Penn Hospital.  I’ll be in Bloomfield.

Next to Oakland, Bloomfield (“Little Italy”) is my favorite neighborhood in Pittsburgh.
