Tuesday I quit my job as an Intake Case Manager for the Low Income Housing Emergency Assistance Program. I cannot tell you what a relief it is to be free of a job I had no passion for, free from a job that I cringed at the idea of going to each morning. I certainly sleep better.
My social security check will cover my basic bills. I have my VA medical card. I’m due a healthy tax refund from the IRS and I just deposited one my last checks from LIHEAP into my checking account. My only concern is re-starting payments for my student loans when I use up all my deferments; but if I may use a cliche, I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it.
Right now I want to enjoy my freedom and work at my true passion as full time editor and publisher of the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette.
