Today in the computer age, the only outlet for millions of writers is to get online. The mainstream print media simply does not have enough room to print new writers even if they’re good.
Even the good online publications are going to weed out 95% of all aspiring writers. Now this does not mean that all 95% of the weeded out writers should be published. But what blogging offers is a reality check for the aspiring writer. Sure, bad writing will get hits too. The point is the writer is being educated about how to use writing to gain an audience.
The aspiring writer will randomly blog about life and love, sex and politics, writing and the economy. He or she will blog about male-female relationships. The new writer might even blog about blogging.
That the aspiring writer is writing and trying to reach an audience is a good thing.

I started blogging to get my own frustrations out regarding my writing career. I’m a Television Producer but my ultimate goal is to become a novelist and I’ve been so close as to have a book deal but that fell through when the economy took a turn for the worse. And since then, I haven’t had much luck.. I also started my own blog on Word press called Rejection Nation: Survival Guide for Aspiring Writers. I’m publishing all the rejection letters I’ve received and I’ve posted a few writing samples… thanks for this blog, it’s very helpful.
Good luck with the blog and your novel writing. I admire anyone who has the fortitude to write a novel. And if the novel is a good novel…
Iwayswright, blogging is a great way to blow off steam. Life gives us so many things to deal with that being able to put thoughts into words and then to send those words out into the world is a relief.

I have found that blogging is a great way to get people who wouldn’t normally read what I write to read my stuff. But, it is a great outlet for stress relief! I don’t always write on here hoping others will read. sometimes I just write to write!
