If you’re knocking yourself out trying to come up with a short story or a flash fiction idea and nothing seems usable, that’s good.  Just keep knocking those ideas together.  You may be surprised that a story line comes together just by “throwing things up against the wall and seeing what sticks”.

Writers are notorious for agonizing over story ideas.  Don’t worry if you’re being driven to distraction about coming up with a new story idea.

Just remember that your best material is your own life.  Here’s Writer’s Block, a true story I came up with just by walking into a bar in Pittsburgh to get a beer.
