You’ve hear it over and over and over again to write about what you know. Well, it’s great advice and deserves to be repeated as often as possible. When I was a teaching assistant at the University of Pittsburgh from 2004 to 2006 some of my students would make up stories about situations and people they knew nothing about.
It’s all right to write about your life and the people around you. You know your life. You know the people around you.
