The Loneliness Of The Short Story Writer

No matter if you write short stories, flash fiction, sudden fiction, mini fiction, postcard fiction, micro fiction or even a novel it’s all a lonely business.  Which is ironical because a writer writes about people.  The writer writes about family and friends even if we do call them characters because we take that away or add this or change that.  Of course we make up people too but they still have the traits of people we know.  How could they not?  The fact is, the act of creative writing is a lonely act.

The good news is once the story is done we send it out into the world and that is an act of community.  We don’t feel so lonely anymore…

For short stories about love, war, marriage, karaoke, sex, friendship, men and women go to the sidebar on the right under “Great Flash Fiction Stories To Read” and do a random scan and find what you like.
