Hello, my brother and sister bloggers, writers and Flash Fiction Fanatics. It’s the Old Soldier with some tips on getting published in the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette, the most dynamic flash fiction magazine on the Internet.
I want to publish you. Now, don’t take the Old Soldier for a softie. Don’t send me crap. Send me something you put serious effort into. Not like one writer who told me he had spent twenty minutes on his story and sent it in. Guess what? The story read like he had spent twenty minutes on it. I didn’t publish it but encouraged him to try again when he could put in more time on his work.
So, be serious about your submission. Unless you are very talented and have been writing publishable fiction for a long time, you are going to have to put in more than twenty minutes to get published. Or, maybe you might get lucky. But depending on luck is not the way to plan a writing career even if it’s an amateur career.
So, send me something. Be sure to read and follow the submissions guidelines. The submissions tab is at the top of the page.
