Some of the best advice that I can give to a flash fiction writer is: get out of the way.

That’s right.  Get out of the way and let your characters act out the story.  Which means once the introduction is over, the writer has to let the characters inter-act.  And when characters inter-act they will reveal everything the reader needs to know about what is going on and who is naughty and who is nice.

In other words, don’t do a lot of explaining.

Are you keeping that journal that I mentioned in another post?  You know, something to write down the details of living your life?  You would be surprised how much that stuff comes in handy for writing flash fiction.

Writing flash fiction is like capturing life 800 words at a time.
