Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette

Hello, my brother and sister bloggers, readers, writers and Flash Fiction Fanatics.  The Old Soldier is doing well.  I’m still in a good mood because the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette got over 3,600 visits last month.  When I started this blog three years ago it was about me, but after reading about the most successful bloggers, those who get hundreds and thousands of hits every day, I realized that I wanted to get more readers, too.

That meant this blog could not be about me.  It had to be about my readers; and I had to have a target reader: the aspiring writer.  How could I serve aspiring writers?  By giving them useful advice about writing short stories, especially very short stories.  My BA and MFA in fiction writing would give my advice credibility.  Plus, I had published over 60 flash fiction stories and articles in print and online publications.

But of course, aspiring writers are only the core audience of this magazine.  My idea was to publish a Playboy Magazine for flash fiction writers.  This meant the magazine would have articles about blogging and writing.  It would have commentaries on life and the world we live in.  It would publish fiction; and, sexuality would be an important part of the editorial content.

So, even though I may write about myself, I try to relate my person life to the editorial policy of the magazine which is to inform and entertain.
