The Old Soldier writes a lot about inspiration.  Without inspiration, the writer cannot write; or, what the writer writes is not inspired writing.  But the mysterious thing is, if a writer writes only when he or she is inspired there is a good chance that not much writing will get done.

So, yes, we writers must write even when we are not inspired.
