I’m jotting this down in my notebook around 9:00 AM as I lay under a blanket in my underwear on the sofa with two pillows under my head. I don’t expect to post this on the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette for several hours because the computer is in the middle of a security scan and I don’t want to interrupt the scan.
I often sleep on the sofa when I have a perfectly good bed to sleep in. I sleep on the sofa when I have issues to work out, issues about blogging, writing and life.
Actually, blogging, writing and life have been going along pretty nicely. I guess sleeping on the sofa last night was my way of keeping check on myself.

Hello hello hello, all my brother and sister bloggers, readers, writers and my Flash Fiction Fanatics. This Veterans Day has the Old Soldier in a reflective mood.
I reflect a lot about this blog. Since I retired, and since I’m a life-long bachelor with no children, this blog has become the focus of my life. That is not as bad as it sounds. This blog allows me to put to good use the BA in fiction writing that I got in 2003 and the MFA in fiction writing that I got in 2006. I know plenty of retired men my age (65) who do nothing but drink. Oh, I do plenty of drinking when I have the money, but I do plenty of blogging, too.

There’s a little sunlight on the window blinds. I don’t know what the weather is supposed to be today, but the summer-like weather of the past few days is probably over for the year. Thanksgiving Day is less than two weeks away. For the first time this year, the possibility of snow is in all the weather forecasts.

Well, I’ll be glad when the security scan is over. I would like to get to work. I was seldom enthusiastic about going to work before I retired. Now that I’m a full-time blogger, I can’t wait to go to work.
This is the Old Soldier blogging out of Pittsburgh on Veterans Day.
