The Old Soldier received a reply today from the Department of Veterans Affairs by snail mail that stated that the VA had his application for a military pension and the VA would be in touch.
You can’t beat that with a stick!
Okay, all you veterans out there listen up. Here are the guidelines the Old Soldier has to meet to get a pension. (There are different guidelines for different pensions.)
I must be 65 or older (I’m 65). I must have served at least one day while the military was at war (I served in Vietnam); and I have to meet the income guidelines (I meet the federal guidelines for poverty for an individual so I do).

How’s everyone doing? The Old Soldier wrote this post while sitting at the bar in Del’s Italian Restaurant in Bloomfield (Little Italy) in Pittsburgh. I got my pension check from Giant Eagle today and the news about my military pension has me in a good mood.
I missed karaoke last night at Del’s because I had no money; but maybe I can save enough money out of the Giant Eagle pension check to make karaoke this coming Friday.
