Finding Time To Write And Over 7,000 Hits

If you can’t find time to write, are you a writer?

I think we all agree that a writer has to write, but finding the time to write can be very difficult for many of us.  Many of you have more responsibilities than the Old Soldier.  The Old Soldier is a retired bachelor with no children.  Finding time to write is no problem for me; but many of you have jobs to go to, are attending school, have families to take care of or you want to share time with a significant other.

I am not the one to give advice about finding time to write.  Just keep in mind that you must find time to write because that’s what writers do.  They write.

I’m rooting for you.

Well, the big day is tomorrow.  The Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette becomes a paying market.  I’ve changed all the submissions tabs to state what the PFF Gazette pays for poetry, non-fiction and fiction.  At the top of the page you will find Anything Goes for non-fiction, Send Poetry for poetry and Submissions for fiction.

The Old Soldier slept on the sofa last night, his head swirling with thoughts about living within a budget, about the Matriarch who will come to visit soon and about taking the PFF Gazette to the next level.  It’s around 10:00 am on a rainy but curiously mild (in the 50s) day.

If my pension check from Giant Eagle arrives today by snail mail, I’ll have a few beers, the first beers in several days.  But I know that to stay within my budget I have to cut back on my beer drinking and that will be a real challenge.

Oh, well, we all must suffer for our art.  This morning the PFF Gazette broke through 7,000 hits for the month of February 2012.
