Probably the most important thing for a writer to understand about flash fiction is that there must be some kind of narrative movement that leads to a resolution of some kind. And since flash fiction is so short, the narrative movement is usually small in order to make the resolution believable; but here’s the catch. Even though the narrative movement is small it is about something important that happens during the story.
A husband making love to his wife is not flash fiction. A husband making love to his wife and realizing something for the first time about their marriage is flash fiction.
