Donna Summer died on 17 May 2012. She was 63 years old. Younger than the Old Soldier. I was always a rocker. But I distinctly remember doing the Philly Hustle around the 70s or early 80s in a local bar that is still a few blocks from my apartment building.
Disco was king.
And Donna Summer was the Queen of Disco. I remember some of the groups from that era: Thelma Houston, Sister Sledge, Alicia Bridges, Chic, Laballe, Average White Band, Gloria Gaynor and many others.
But Donna Summer reigned over all of them. Her music still makes the Old Soldier put on his dancing shoes.

European Leaders Move To Solve The Euro Crisis
European leaders of the Euro zone have decided to re-finance the banking systems of several European nations by infusing money directly into the banks and by passing the governments of the nations asking for the bailouts.
This seems to be good news on two fronts. The nations will not have debt added to their sovereign bonds and the banks will get the money they need.
Whether or not working-class Americans, like me, are paying attention to the Euro zone crisis this is good news for everyone. Of course, this does not solve the problem. Cutting costs and economic growth are the answers, but this is a win for our side.
Oh, yes, the Old Soldier knows a little bit about the international banking and financial system and he is trying to learn more about it every day. I have a pension that is affected by the markets. If you’re retired maybe you should pay more attention, too.
