Writer, Know The Power Of Your Imagination

Woman As Art

Just as Grace Slick sung in the Jefferson Airplane psychedelic classic White Rabbit, “Feed your head…Feed your head…Feed your head!” we writers need to feed our heads.

It is through the power of our imagination that we take the raw material of life and give it artistic form.  It is through the power of the imagination that a flash fiction writer is able to take a mundane gesture like a pat on the back and change it into a significant event, not only for the character receiving the pat but for the character giving it, too.

The imagination is a mysterious thing.  Many rivers flow into the imagination.

I would like to offer this humble publication as one of those rivers.  Explore the site.  Visit often.  It cost you nothing.  Feed your head.

Whew!  The high in Pittsburgh will be around 90 degrees and sunny; but the Old Soldier is determined to march into the next neighborhood and to get something for his crock pot at the nearest supermarket.  My water bottle will contain ice.  For the past few days I’ve been dreaming of a nice, thick corn beef brisket.  A writer’s got to eat.

Hello hello hello, all my fans in North and South America, Europe, The Middle-East, Asia and Africa with a special shout-out to all my fans in Canada!  I’ve never been to Canada, but years ago my brother Lloyd went for a visit and he loved it.  Actually, Lloyd should be arriving in Pittsburgh today by plane.  He lives in California.

Well, that’s enough about me.  It’s 10:00 a.m. and the blogging day has begun.  This publication got over 600 hits yesterday.  Tell all your friends about the excitement that is the flash fiction short story.
