The Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette receives more unsolicited, publishable submissions than it can absorb; but our editorial policy is to showcase writing talent from all over the world.
The next reading period for unsolicited submissions will run from 1 July 2013 to 31 July 2013. A writer is allowed only one short story submission each reading period. Each new reading period will be announced in advance.
Once a writer has a story accepted for publication, that writer may submit another story as soon as the previous story is published.
Poets may submit up to three poems in the same email during a reading period.
*****
The Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette is calling for short story submissions. Submissions should be between 500 to 800 words long. Type or paste the story in an email. Attachments will not be opened. Put ”Submission” in the subject line or the email may be rejected as spam. In the body of the email include the title, name of the author, word count and your email address. At the end of the story add a one to three sentence bio in the third person and the URL to your homepage if you have one and want a link back to it.
Submission does not mean acceptance. Read a few of the stories in the sidebar on the left of other Guest Writers to get an idea of the quality of the writing. Be sure to format the story correctly for The Gazette; which means it should be formatted just like this post: alignment to the left, no indentations.
The Gazette does not publish science fiction or fantasy.
Rigorous proofreading counts. Not following submission guidelines is enough reason for rejection. Authors retain all rights. Payment is $15.00 for a short story and exposure in the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette which publishes some of the best flash fiction on the Internet. The story must be yours. Previously published work is welcomed. You must have a PayPal account to accept payment. Flash fiction about sex is always popular; but you don’t have to write about sex. You just have to write well. And no simultaneous submissions.
I pay $5.00 for poetry.
Send submissions to hoganpitt@aol.com
