Every writer of fiction must first and foremost entertain his or her audience.  This goes for the writer of erotica, too.  Most people are very much interested in sex so the writer of erotica has a natural audience.  The writer of erotic flash fiction must entertain within a few hundred words.

Now I’m talking about flash fiction as a serious art form.  So, when I refer to erotic flash fiction, I’m talking about the long and honorable tradition of erotic fiction.  And like all good fiction, the best erotic flash fiction has in it all the elements of characterization, drama, sense details, motivation and resolution that identifies the best fiction in any genre and of any length.

If the Old Soldier may leave you with one tip in this post about writing erotic flash fiction, it is this.

The best erotic stories are really not about sex at all.  They are about relationships.

So, when you write your erotic flash fiction make sure you get all the nuances of a relationship, no matter how short or how long the relationship may be, into your story.  Then you can add as much or as little sex as you like.

But you will have a sexy flash fiction story.
