Spring is considered a time of rebirth.  And as spring comes to the City of Pittsburgh, a rebirth is taking place at the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette.

“The Sunday Flash Fiction Story” series is being reborn.

Every Sunday, without fanfare, the Old Soldier will go into the archives of this blog, find a story and stick it to the front page to be replaced by another story from the archives the following Sunday.

You know, sort of like the changing of the guard.

Sometimes the replacement story will be one of my old stories and sometimes it will be a story by another writer.  Sometimes the story will be about sexuality and sometimes it won’t be about sexuality.

The first story of the reborn series is on the front page right now.  Be sure to check it out.

This blog is about flash fiction, writing and brazen sexuality.

The Old Soldier is on a mission.  How’s everyone doing?  Today is Sunday and we all know what that means: Steelers football!  The game is still a few hours away allowing me to do some blogging.

I’m proud of my little blog.  I like to call it the most dynamic flash fiction magazine on the internet.  One of the things that helps to make this magazine dynamic is the constant publication of new flash fiction talent.  That’s where you come in.

I want to publish you.

The Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette averages 100 hits every day and that number is slowly growing.  This little online magazine has a great future.  And when your story is accepted for publication, it doesn’t have just a few days of glory on the Home Page and then disappear into the archives forever.  It will be in constant rotation from the archives to the Home Page because 70% of visitors to all blogs are new.

Over a one year period, your story will get a lot of exposure.  You can’t beat that with a stick!

So send me something.  The Submissions tab for flash fiction is at the top of the page.

Go Steelers!

Blogging: Keeping The PFF Gazette Relevant

There are now over 2,400 pieces of content on this blog.  The Home Page is made up of 15 posts.  I blog nearly every day.  Blogging nearly every day means the Old Soldier has to put up a lot of content every day.  So, I publish old and new content.  I create new content and I publish old content from the archives.

Publishing old content from the archives works out pretty good because all of the literature that I have read about blogging says that 70% of the visitors to a blog are new and they don’t come back even if they like the blog.

And the new content helps to keep my regular readers happy; but many of my regular readers like to re-visit the old content, too.  It is this mixture of old and new content that keeps the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette relevant.

Keep reading and keep writing that flash fiction.
