News: Bankruptcy May Be BP’s Only Option

The American public and the world are witnessing the worst environmental disaster in U.S. history unfold in the Gulf of Mexico.  Investors are deserting BP.  All along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico seafood businesses, shrimpers, oystermen, the tourism industry and drilling crews that have been put out of work because of the oil spill at Deepwater Horizon all want money from BP.

BP has become poison to its own industry.  Experts in the oil industry are now secretly wondering how long BP can sustain not only the cost of the clean up but also the years of litigation that will come from the thousands of lawsuits that are only now beginning to be filed in court.

Many in the oil industry feel that Chapter 11 bankruptcy for BP is only weeks away.

Short Story Ideas That Work

Blogging About New Writing Ideas

Yes, once you learn the basics of writing the short story then you have to come up constantly with new ideas to write about.  It’s almost noon here in Pittsburgh on another sunny and warm day.  The Penguins are down 2-0 in the series but game number three is here in Pittsburgh so we’ll see what happens.

GM is in bankruptcy and the North Koreans are defiant in the face of agreements they’ve made with the UN.  The world economy is still shrinking and the environment is still being poisoned.  Besides all of these things, the Old Soldier still has to come up with something new to write about.

So, I’m going to take my pens and notebook with me and go on my daily walk to think deep and not so deep thoughts as I try to replindish the creative well.  See all of my brother and sister writers in a few hours.  Stick around and enjoy the short stories and articles.

GM Might Be A Dead Duck

Last night on Pittsburgh public television (WQED) the lead story on the six o’clock news was GM.  Bankruptcy is now a real possibility.  Outside auditors said the company could no longer sustain itself.

The Obama Administration must now decide whether or not to put billions of more tax payer money (on top of the billions already poured into the company) into a company that will probably fail anyway.

Some of GM’s suppliers are edging toward bankruptcy.  They want a bailout, too.  Our economy, the global economy, continues to slide ever deeper into recession on the way to a possible global Great Depression.
