Heather Kinnane, Brianna Frost And 1,191 Hits Yesterday

Brianna Frost Hogan

This blog got 1,191 hits yesterday from all over the world.  Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks?

It’s the Old Soldier here reporting from Pittsburgh.

Well, the American presidential election is over.  President Obama gets another four years, the Republicans maintain control of the House and the Democrats maintain control of the Senate.

Will our government remain grid locked?

But while our leaders try to figure out how to get things done, the Old Soldier is getting better and better at this editorial/publication business.  I publish talented writers like Heather Kinnane (as of this posting she has three short stories on the front page and an interview) and I report on women like my niece Brianna Frost Hogan doing online adult videos.

Of course, that’s not all that’s in the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette.  Why don’t you see for yourself?  Start with the front page.  Find out why 1,191 people would read a little niche blog about flash fiction.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

The Sunday Flash Fiction Story (23 September 2012)

October's Palette

The month of October is only a few days away.  You know what that means.  It means more flash fiction from the Guest Writers series.  The Old Soldier has two writers lined up for the first week of October.

I’ll also introduce a new series: Karaoke As Performance Art.  The series will report on the Saturday night action at the #1 karaoke bar in Pittsburgh and on how when karaoke is good enough it is art, too.

And throughout the rest of October the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette will continue to offer you its unique blend of serious writing and brazen sexuality.

Well, it’s Sunday.  Time for the Old Soldier to pull one of his stories from the archives and post it on the front page.  I hope you enjoy it.

Porno

It was the first hot day of the year in Pittsburgh. Students from the University of Pittsburgh sprawled in the grass sunbathing. The good looking young man walked beyond the students and down a street to the crowded tables of a sidewalk cafe. A beautiful young woman waved at him from one of the tables. He sat at her table. A tall mixed drink was in front of her. A waitress took his order. The man and woman sat saying nothing. The waitress brought him a glass and a bottle of beer. The man poured some of the beer in the glass and drank it off. The man and woman sat looking at each other.

This Is My Niece Brianna Frost Hogan. She Stars In Videos On Her Own Adult Site On The Internet.

She said, “I fell in love with you because you were a wild man. Now you’ve become such a prude.”

“For not wanting to have sex on the Internet?”

“We won’t always be young.”

He finished the rest of his beer. He sat thinking, holding and watching his empty beer glass. He looked up at her, considering.

“All right,” he said.

“Really?”

“Maybe it’ll be fun.”

“Of course it’ll be fun. And we’ll make money. We’ll make lots of money. You know why?”

“Why?”

“Because we’re young. Because we’re beautiful. Because our videos will be so hot. I have a friend who makes a living from online videos.”

“What’s her name?”

“Brianna Frost.”

The Old Soldier is about to walk to The Big Idea Cooperative Bookstore.  I’m so glad that I found this community bookstore owned by the workers.  It’s also a cafe and it holds all kinds of events like readings and the screening of films by unknown filmmakers.

I hope to become more involved with the cooperative.  It’s only about five blocks from my apartment.

How’s everyone doing? Here’s a special shout-out to all my fans in Canada.  You know who you are.

Did you check out the new short story “Young Gunfighter” by Lowell Bergeron?  It’s stuck to the front page.

I also recently found out that my niece Brianna Frost is now doing porn.  Oh, well, she has her own site and she has been making a good living stripping, pole dancing nude and masturbating online for years now so I guess it was only a matter of time before she actually did porn.  But I’ll report on Brianna in another post as part of the series about women doing online adult videos.

Just keep reading and keep writing that flash fiction.

Submissions: A Paying Market For Articles

This magazine is now a paying market.  It pays for poetry, fiction and non-fiction.  We all know what poetry and fiction are; but what does the Old Soldier mean by non-fiction?

By non-fiction I mean anything that might be of interest to the readers of the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette that is not poetry or fiction.  Right now, the Old Soldier is looking for articles on what it’s like to be a blogger.  Of course, you need to be a blogger to do that.

Hello, all my brother and sister bloggers, readers, writers and Flash Fiction Fanatics from all over the world.  The Old Soldier slept in this morning and now it’s almost noon on a rainy, cloudy day in Pittsburgh with the high around 70 degrees.

The Old Soldier does not like cloudy days, but there’s nothing he can do about it.  Be sure to read, “Brianna Frost: A Sex Performer In The Family”.  It’s on the front page.  Check it out before it rotates to the archives.

Behind The Scenes (May 7, 2012)

It’s around noon on a lovely summer-like day in Pittsburgh and the Old Soldier cooked and just finished a breakfast of fish and chips (fish covered with yellow corn meal and thick slices of potatoes cooked in extra virgin olive oil) and beer.  When you’re retired you can eat a late breakfast on a Monday and wash it down with several cans of beer.

How’s everyone doing?

The Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette has started off the month of May averaging 331 hits every day.  You can’t beat that with a stick!

The Pittsburgh Great Race was yesterday.  Over 25,000 runners took part.  The race began at 7:00 am, much too early for the Old Soldier.  So, I ended up catching a few stragglers around 1:00 in the afternoon.

Yesterday, the Old Soldier published a commentary about his niece, “Brianna Frost: A Sex Performer In The Family”.  It’s on the front page.  Check it out before it rotates to the archives.
