Finally, a paperback copy of the Old Soldier’s only book is in The Big Idea Bookstore. The Big Idea Bookstore is owned by the workers and is only about five blocks from my apartment building.
My idea is not to make money from the book (it goes for $10.95) but to use it to promote the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette. Part of the deal with the bookstore is that if the book doesn’t move at $10.95 after there months the store will discount the book every three months for one year. If after one year it still doesn’t sell and I don’t take the book off the shelf, the book will be donated to the co-op (that’s what the store is). I can have three copies of the book on the shelf. I’m going to get two more copies in there next month.
The deal is fine with me. Every copy will be signed and the URL of this magazine will be under my signature.

The Old Soldier (I’m a Vietnam War Veteran) is jotting this post in a notebook, to be transposed to the blog later, as he drinks a can of beer and listens to an adult video by earplugs. Europe slid closer to financial ruin over the weekend. Last night I watched the evening news and the nightly business news on public television with mounting unease. Spain accepted a bailout. Greece has an election this weekend which will probably decide whether or not that country stays in the Eurozone. Italy is wobbly.
Only a fool here in the United States can think that a European credit meltdown will not have an impact on this country.
