The Old Soldier is giving his crock pot a rest.
Hello hello hello, all my brother and sister bloggers, readers, writers and my Flash Fiction Fanatics. And a special shout-out to the students at the University of Pittsburgh.
How’s everyone doing?
The Old Soldier is feeling young and doing fine. It’s around 4:30 AM. I’m stretched out on the sofa with two fat pillows under my weary head as I jot this down and sip on some orange juice as I wait for my computer to warm up. I can’t wait for the blogging day to begin.
Well, I never did fry my fish yesterday. I’m going to do that today.
When I phoned the Matriarch yesterday, she told me that Sis was going to bring her down to my apartment for a visit. The Matriarch lives with my older sister and her husband. They live about 30 miles outside of Pittsburgh. The conversation got me to thinking about age. The Matriarch is 92. My brother-in-law is 80. Sister is 70. I’m 65.
Oh, well. The older I get the bolder I get. This blog is the proof.
No karaoke tonight. I’ve been spending too freely. I don’t expect any money (Social Security and two pension checks) until the middle of next week. Which means the Old Soldier will be alcohol free for the next several days.
Not to worry.
I’ve got my yellow corn meal, my extra virgin olive oil, sandwich buns, plenty of hot sauce and my fish. And I have several cans of green tea.
That fish is going to taste so good.
This is the Old Soldier reporting from Oakland, near the main campus of the University of Pittsburgh.
