Woman As Art

The Old Soldier has been experimenting with SEO.  For a long time I didn’t even know what SEO stood for.  But once I figured out it stood for Search Engine Optimization I thought I had better get with the program and try to use it to my advantage if I wanted to be a serious blogger.

Well, my only definite success with SEO is that I make sure that the term “flash fiction” is in every post I publish.  And of course, I use the term as a tag for every post, too.

So, when people search Google for “flash fiction” this blog usually shows up on the first page as one of the ten top sites in the world for flash fiction.  That’s all I know about SEO.  I hope this information was useful.  Most of you probably know about SEO anyway.  The Old Soldier is just trying to be helpful.

Hello hello hello, all my brother and sister bloggers, readers, writers and Flash Fiction Fanatics from all over the world.  You know who you are.  It’s not even 8:00 a.m. in Pittsburgh.  The high will be 77 and the day will be sunny.  The blogging day has begun.

Cyprus And Spain Ask For Bailouts

The Old Soldier woke up this morning to news reports that the island nation of Cyprus and Spain have made it official.  Both nations have asked the Euro zone to help save their banking systems.

The leaders of the Euro zone will meet in Brussels on Thursday and Friday.  Investors all over the world are holding their breath as we edge closer to a world-wide financial disaster.  Very few people who I know seem to be paying attention to this; but it makes the Old Soldier very uneasy.

Well, there is nothing that the Old Soldier can do about the drama in Europe.  The only thing that I can do is to keep blogging and hope for the best.  Speaking of the best, you will find some of the best literary, mainstream and erotic flash fiction on the Internet right here in this little blog.

Explore the site.  Click the follow button.  Tell all your friends about the excitement that is the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette.

Love Doctor

It’s around 11:00 am in the City of Pittsburgh.  The high will be around 77 degrees on a mostly cloudy day.  The Old Soldier doesn’t like cloudy days, but he got his pension check from Giant Eagle yesterday and his military pension was deposited in his account today and his social security will be deposited in his account on the third.  So, how bad can it be?  I’m going to put this post up, do my breathing and stretching exercises (karaoke this Friday night at Del’s), do a little house cleaning, read my copy of 1984 by George Orwell and do some more blogging.

You can’t beat that with a stick!

I’m in good spirits, looking forward to the month of May and to putting up lots of content to entertain and inform you.  Keep reading and keep writing that flash fiction.

Be sure to check out the Love Doctor’s latest article on female sexuality, “How Long Does A Woman’s Orgasm Last?”  It’s on the front page.  Check it out before it rotates to the archives.

3 Hot Tips On How To Build A Better Blog

Are you a blogger?  I’m a blogger.  For several weeks now, Google has ranked this blog in the top five world-wide for the search term “flash fiction.”  This blog got 360 hits yesterday from all over the world.  And it has more than 8,000 hits for this month and there is still one week to go before this month is over.  I think the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette is going places.

It didn’t use to be this way.

I’m the Old Soldier, the editor/publisher of this blog.  The PFFG went online September 2008 and for a long time I could not get 50 hits a day to save my life.  How did I change things around?

  • I studied the blogs of far more successful bloggers.
  • I tried to bring something totally unique and bold to my niche.
  • I tried to provide entertaining and useful content to my target audience on a regular basis.

There are many more entertaining and useful articles on blogging in the sidebar on the right under The Pleasure Of Blogging For Fun And Profit.

Hello hello hello, all my brother and sister bloggers, readers, writers and my Flash Fiction Fanatics from all over the world.  You know who you are.

It’s a dreary day in the City of Pittsburgh.  It’s almost noon and the sun has yet to make an appearance.  The forecast is for snow mixed with rain and the high might be 39.

Oh, well, we must soldier on.

I wonder whatever happened to the Occupy Movement.  The Old Soldier had such high hopes for it.  Well, income inequality is now part of the national debate and for that we can thank the occupiers and their allies.

Keep reading and keep writing that flash fiction.
