Hello, bloggers and writers. It is less than one hour before the Super Bowl. I am back from my beer run to Bloomfield. I got the beer at Armand’s which has cheap beer prices and serves the biggest fish sandwich in Pittsburgh; but I did not get a fish sandwich. I have plenty of food at home and ended up thawing out some spaghetti sauce I made over a week ago.
The sauce has peppers, onions and plenty of ground beef in it. I heated it up and poured it over some hot rice. The Old Soldier is fit and ready for a Steelers victory.
But this post is really about keeping your imagination productive. There are all kinds of ways for a writer to feed his or her imagination. A writer can just live life and keep his or her eyes open.
And a writer can read. Start by reading some of the excellent content on this blog. It won’t cost you a penny.

Crock Pot Chili And Writing Flash Fiction
Image via Wikipedia
It’s around 1:00 PM on a chilly, bright day in Pittsburgh and the Old Soldier is at Del’s Bar & Italian Restaurant having a couple of draft beers at the bar. Amy is behind the bar. She’s a working archeologist. She works out of the Carnegie Museum in my neighborhood of Oakland where the University of Pittsburgh is located.
The Old Soldier will leave here soon and get back to his apartment to put on a crock pot of chili con carne.
First brown the ground beef, chop it up, then throw it into the crock pot of diced green peppers, tomato sauce, cooked rice, kidney beans with plenty of chili powder, salt and pepper and a couple of small hot peppers. It will last a week.
You can’t beat it with a stick.
