This blog can help you become a better short story writer. How? Well, first let me say that I got my MFA in fiction writing in 2006 from the University of Pittsburgh. I am now a full-time blogger. Flash fiction is my passion.
On this blog you will find two things that will help you become a better short story writer. You will find excellent examples of short stories, and you will find articles full of useful tips on how to write short fiction.

Stuck? How To Finish Your Story

All of us get stuck at one time or another writing a short story. What to do? What to do?
Some of us give up. And that can be a legitimate option, especially if the storyline does not have promise. But what about a story that does have promise. You know it has promise. You don’t want to give up on that one. So, what do you do?
Well, when I get stuck on a promising story, I just let it sit for a day, two days, a week; I have gone back to stories after months.
A funny thing happens when you go back to a promising story after the passage of some time. You see it with fresh eyes. You see things you want to add and maybe take away, and there is a very good chance that you will see how to go on.
Now this may be obvious to some that when you get stuck writing a short story that you know has promise you should just give it more time. But sometimes even a veteran writer forgets this simple solution.
I thought I would mention it again. I know I need to be reminded of it.
