As of this morning the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette has 24, 667 visits for December 2012 and there are still six more days before January.
How’s everyone doing on this Christmas Day?
The Old Soldier is relaxing in his favorite position: on the sofa on his back with two pillows under his weary head as he writes this in his notebook. I have two new books from the public library: War on the Water, The Union & Confederate Navies, 1861-1865 by James M. McPherson and Dial M For Murdoch, News Corporation And The Corruption Of Britain by Tom Watson & Martin Hickman.
And you thought the Old Soldier was only interested in flash fiction and naked women.
I finished off a six-pack of beer this morning. I was going to save money for karaoke at Del’s this Friday night; but there probably won’t be much of a crowd because of the holidays. So, I’ll just wait for the first Friday in January and use the money to hang out and enjoy myself.
The Old Soldier loves his beer.
It’s an overcast day in Pittsburgh. The high will only be in the 40s. I have several turkey necks in the crock pot and I don’t think I’ll even go outside today.
Have a merry Christmas. Be sure to check the front page for the latest updates.

Every Writer Needs A Little Quiet Time

The Old Soldier just came back from his walk. I decided not to walk to the public library, but to head off in the opposite direction and visit my niece who owns a pottery shop. She was busy and I did not stay long. I did get some literature and I plan to register for a wheel lesson: two hours of instructions, clay, tools and your 1st firing. Bring a bottle of wine (six-pack of beer for me) and enjoy! $55.
It’s for a good cause. It will give me something to look forward to after the holidays.
Then I walked back through Bloomfield, stopped at the supermarket for some green peppers and a large Milky War double candy bar and I strolled back to my apartment in Oakland enjoying my candy bar.
It’s actually warm outside. It’s overcast but feels like it’s around 60 degrees. I walked pass Del’s Bar and Italian Restaurant and Sonny’s Tavern. No karaoke this Friday (cash flow) but definitely karaoke next week.
I strolled along looking about me and humming Here I Go Again by Whitesnake.
