The Old Soldier has been writing fiction for a long time. First I started out writing novels, then short stories and finally flash fiction. Flash fiction won me a fellowship to the graduate writing program at the University of Pittsburgh in 2003.

The best flash fiction is about putting life on the page. It uses words to paint a picture that tells a story. It presents the reality of our lives.
