If the Old Soldier wrote only when he was inspired, he would not get much writing done. You wouldn’t get much writing done if you wrote only when you were inspired; but inspiration sure is nice. Isn’t it?
Where can a writer find inspiration? Just about anywhere: in a book, in conversation with a friend, in a walk through the park or while taking a shower. Sometimes we wake up in the morning with a great idea to write about and we have no idea where the idea came from. For years I found The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway to be a constant inspiration. There was one period of time when I read the book over and over again. No sooner had I finished the last chapter, I would begin to get lonely for the characters again.
I do think there is a state of mind that is conducive for inspiration. It is a heighten awareness that inspiration can strike anytime from any direction. You have to consciously encourage this state of mind in yourself. The world is a wonderful and at the same time a terrible place.
You have to be ready for inspiration at all times.

Writers, Are You Looking For Inspiration?
Woman As Art
Now where can a writer find inspiration? Where can a writer find inspiration? Where can a writer…I’ve got it! The Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette will give you all the inspiration you need.
Hello hello hello, my brother and sister bloggers and writers. This is the Old Soldier blogging out of Pittsburgh on a cloudy, mild (70s) afternoon that’s just right for spreading the word about the most exciting flash fiction publication on the Internet.
Sure, there are several other fine flash fiction publications on the world-wide web; but there are none with the unique blend of serious writing and brazen sexuality that puts the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette in a class of its own.
Add the fact that this publication is also a paying market, and you can’t beat that with a stick!
You want inspiration? You got inspiration.
Now I know this online magazine is definitely not for everyone. But maybe it’s just right for you.
Keep reading and keep writing that flash fiction.
