New writers often turn to sensationalism or violence or profanity to give their writing uniqueness. Now the Old Soldier is the last person in the world to deny that these things cannot be used to give writing a certain uniqueness. But these things are not enough. These things in themselves cannot sustain a writer.
I like to think that the erotica that you will find under the Sexy Stories tab at the top of the page is unique; but if these flash fiction short stories are unique it is not the sexuality that makes them unique. It is the intelligent writing, the concise characterization and the show don’t tell technique that makes them unique.
Is your flash fiction unique?
