I like to think this online, little magazine has a lot to offer.

Hello, it’s the Old Soldier here with the 21 March 2013 edition of the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette.  I coined a lot of phrases to describe what we do here at The Gazette.

  • A magazine of serious writing and brazen sexuality
  • The most exciting flash fiction publication on the Internet
  • A blog published by a writer for other writers

And so on and so forth.  But like most labels, these descriptions only hint at what you will find on this site.  Who are some of the people who have inspired the Old Soldier as the magazine evolved?

  • Andy Warhol
  • David Letterman
  • Lady Gaga

Explore the site.  This publication is more than four years old and contains over 3,000 pieces of content.  This little magazine is definitely not for everyone.  There’s too much sex.

But it might be just right for you.

This Blog: Andy Warhol Is My Inspiration

Lady Gaga

Hue Hefner and Lady Gaga have had a great impact on how the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette has evolved; but I think Andy Warhol has had an even greater influence on the Old Soldier, your friendly editor/publisher.

I just came back from a long walk through and around the campus of the University of Pittsburgh on this overcast, mild (50) afternoon.  I made sure to walk past 3252 Dawson Street.  That’s where Andy Warhol grew up.

Andy Warhol was many things: commercial artist, fine artist, filmmaker, writer, silk screen artist, photographer and cultural icon.  He was an editor/publisher, too.

But most of all he was a provocateur.
