I like to think this online, little magazine has a lot to offer.
Hello, it’s the Old Soldier here with the 21 March 2013 edition of the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette. I coined a lot of phrases to describe what we do here at The Gazette.
- A magazine of serious writing and brazen sexuality
- The most exciting flash fiction publication on the Internet
- A blog published by a writer for other writers
And so on and so forth. But like most labels, these descriptions only hint at what you will find on this site. Who are some of the people who have inspired the Old Soldier as the magazine evolved?
- Andy Warhol
- David Letterman
- Lady Gaga
Explore the site. This publication is more than four years old and contains over 3,000 pieces of content. This little magazine is definitely not for everyone. There’s too much sex.
But it might be just right for you.
The Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette is published near Bloomfield (Little Italy) in the City of Pittsburgh, home to the NFL Steelers.

This is the Old Soldier here on what will be a sunny, mild (40s) Autumn day in the city of Pittsburgh.
Every so often I like to put up a post inviting readers from all over the world to check out my little blog. What is this blog all about? Well, let me list some, not all, of my editorial influences.
- Lady GaGa
- David Letterman
- Hunter Thompson
- Andy Warhol
- Brianna Frost Hogan
Confused? I would be too. Just take a moment and click on the front page and suddenly all will become clear.
The Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette is an online magazine of serious writing and brazen sexuality.
Who will read this blog?
My windows need to be cleaned.
Breakfast: pork and beans.

Hue Hefner and Lady Gaga have had a great impact on how the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette has evolved; but I think Andy Warhol has had an even greater influence on the Old Soldier, your friendly editor/publisher.
I just came back from a long walk through and around the campus of the University of Pittsburgh on this overcast, mild (50) afternoon. I made sure to walk past 3252 Dawson Street. That’s where Andy Warhol grew up.
Andy Warhol was many things: commercial artist, fine artist, filmmaker, writer, silk screen artist, photographer and cultural icon. He was an editor/publisher, too.
But most of all he was a provocateur.

Now you know why the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette is the way it is. And what way is that? It’s an online magazine of serious writing and brazen sexuality. Be sure to check the front page for the latest updates.
