Well, as my favorite porn site is obviously in big trouble (it has not put up a new video in months; it just keeps recycling old videos and my subscription runs until 2 June) I’ve been forced to look at videos on the site that I have not looked at before.

I don’t know if that’s true.  Ladies, you’ll have to do your research to see if the claim is true.  But wouldn’t it be great if it was true?

Anna, what do you want us to know about you?

I’d like people to know that I’m the shy girl who lurks in the corner; as in, the school-girly introvert who does not assert herself when you see her in public. But don’t pass a girl like me by next time you see one - the initial timidness melts if you’d show a little patience, and I have enough passion and dirtiness in me that scorches and excites in the most pleasurable ways.

How did you start writing flash fiction?
 
I stumbled upon it. When I first started writing stories, I found out that I didn’t have “novels” in me (don’t a lot of people say “Everyone has a novel in them somewhere?”). I examine one moment or one emotion minutely and explore that as a tale. I discovered the term, “flash fiction” on the web when I looked for places to submit my bite-size work, and realized that there was a place for them. It was a very happy surprise.
 
How did you start writing erotica?
 
It’s a “who” – my male lover who constantly inspires and encourages me to try out new things. He said my sexting drove him wild, and thought I might have a knack for writing sexy tales. He mentioned it several times until I was tingling to try it out, so I did, and I loved it. No matter what happens in the future, I’d always be grateful to him for leading me to writing. It’s a dream I didn’t even know I had until it came true!
 
Do you watch porn?
 
Oooh yes. All sexual orientations and as many different positions and scenarios as the world has to offer.

Barbara, what do you want us to know about you?

 
Well, first and foremost, I’m a journalist by day and an erotica writer by night. I’m originally from New York City and have lived in the area most of my life, so I like to use urban settings a lot in my stories. I’ve also lived in Latin America, and I speak Spanish, so occasionally I’ll incorporate that in my writing as well. Of course, other times I’ll just completely go in a different direction and write about something I have no personal experience with. They say you should write what you know, but I think it’s good to challenge yourself sometimes. 
 
How did you start writing flash fiction?
 
I started in college, for campus publications. I studied journalism– not literature or anything like that– but occasionally I would get bored with it because there isn’t a whole lot of room to be creative when writing a news story. So, writing fiction became my release. 
 
How did you start writing erotica?
 
I was actually dared to by a friend. She knew I wrote short fiction on the side, and one night after a few drinks we got on the subject of erotica. She suddenly blurted out, “I bet you’d be good at writing erotica. In fact, I dare you to do it!” So later when I was home, I found myself sitting at my desk typing up my first-ever erotic story. The next day, I sent it to an erotica publisher, and after having to revise it once or twice, I got it published. From then on, I was hooked. My stories have gotten a lot better than that first one, of course, and now I follow certain rules while writing. For example, the story needs to be sexy and unique, but it still has to be believable. Deep down, every reader wants to believe that they could actually have the experience they are reading about. And as for the actual format, all of my stories have some sort of sexual suggestion or innuendo in the very beginning, and then throughout the setup of the main event (the main sex scene). I hate reading erotica that takes too long to get to the good stuff. Also, I read through every story when I’m done with it to make sure it’s hot. If I’m not seriously turned on by the end, it’s no good. 
 
Do you watch porn?
 
Of course! I’m not sure that I know of any erotica writers who don’t. Porn always helps to inspire me, though of course, I do watch it primarily for pleasure instead of business. My favorite website is Pornhub.com, because it is well-organized with categories to help you quickly find what you’re looking for, and it consistently has new videos. It also doesn’t have the endless amount of advertisements, pop-ups and potential viruses that plague other porn sites. I also like watching full-length porn movies on occasion, especially exceptional classics like ‘The Opening of Misty Beethoven.’ 
 
Could you ever see yourself being in at least one porn video in your life time?
 
I think a lot of us have imagined ourselves being in a porn movie at one point or another, but do I see myself actually doing it? Hmm, that’s a tough question because I honestly don’t know. I think it would be a lot of fun though, and while I’m being honest, I’d ideally like to do a scene with a man and a woman at once. I think threesomes are often the hottest setups. I even put one in the first erotica story I ever wrote.

Thank you to everyone who enjoys my writing! Seriously though, I think erotica is often underrated. We all have a sexual side, whether we’re young or old, liberal or conservative, etc. Erotica helps us explore that side. And while porn is great, it doesn’t necessarily engage the human mind like erotica does. Whenever I read stories multiple times, they never play out in my mind exactly the same way as before. Plus, it’s easier to imagine myself in the story since someone else isn’t acting it out in front of me (that’s actually why in my own stories I try not to be overly descriptive with how each character looks).

The Old Soldier got a fish sandwich at Armand’s in Bloomfield, Pittsburgh’s “Little Italy” yesterday.  It cost $10.00; but I had a taste for a fish sandwich and I was going to have a fish sandwich.  It was good.

It was two nice pieces of fish on a bun with a side of tartar sauce and I put plenty of hot sauce on it.  With a big draft beer, the sandwich was perfect.

I sat at the bar next to another Vietnam War veteran.  He convinced me that if I want to find out all the things I’m eligible for as a vet, I should go downtown to the vet’s main office in the Federal Building.

You can never get anyone on the phone.  So, the weather will be turning nice again and I’m going to make the trip downtown.

That’s probably what every veteran in the nation should do to find out about his or her benefits.  Talk to a representative face to face.

This post is another in my series of why everyday women do porn.  The Old Soldier is serious about approaching porn as entertainment and maybe even as an art form when it’s good enough.

We all know how pervasive porn is on the Internet.  It is a subject that demands serious discussion, especially since so many everyday women, women who have real jobs and have no intentions of being porn actresses, are doing porn.  Why?

I was recently watching a video online of a woman being gangbanged.  She enjoyed herself.  She had several orgasms.  She was not a porn actress.  She worked in real estate. 

And as I watched her suck and fuck her way through the video, I kept asking myself, why did she agree to have sex on camera?  Why do so many everyday women agree to be in a porn video?

Well, of course there are the obvious reasons: the fantasy and the money.  But as I watched this particular video I also realized that many women just love the “idea” of being on camera.  They love the idea that millions of people will see them suck and fuck and have orgasms.  Talk about being a performance artist.
