Since January of 2012, the readership of this magazine has tripled!
Hello hello hello, all my brother and sister bloggers, readers, writers and Flash Fiction Fanatics from all over the world. The Old Soldier just came back from a lovely walk down to the Pitt campus and through Schenley Park. The students are moving into their on-campus and off-campus housing on this glorious summer day in Pittsburgh; and as I took in the sights of the city and the park I wondered if I had another blog post in me for the day.
I threw some pasta into some boiling water and I sat down at my workstation. This magazine has been averaging over 600 hits for the month of August.
Why not break down the numbers by month for my readers? WordPress has a pretty good stats page. So, here are the number of hits that this magazine has been getting every month since January 2012.
- Jan: 5,832
- Feb: 7,233
- Mar: 9,668
- Apr: 10, 898
- May: 9,740
- Jun: 9,020
- Jul: 14,119
The magazine has over 12,000 hits for August and with ten more days to go I think I can safely say that the magazine will break the 15,000 mark this month.
You can’t beat that with a stick!
The Old Soldier wants to thank each one of you, readers and guest writers, for making these numbers possible. I dream of the day when this magazine gets over 5,000 hits every day. I dream of a day when ads and the sale of my ebook will allow me to pay my guest writers better. I dream of the day when the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette will be universally recognized as the most exciting flash fiction publication on the Internet.
This is the Old Soldier reporting from Pittsburgh.

Random Thoughts On Life, Writing And Flash Fiction
Hello, my brother and sister bloggers, writers, readers and my Flash Fiction Fanatics. I hope the new name of the blog does not offend my female readers. Ladies, I know you’re out there. As a matter of fact, those sites that make it their business to break down the readership of a blog say that college educated women make up the majority of the readers of this online magazine.
And why not? Women know good writing when they come across it. Women like erotica when it’s well done and there is a good story about relationships at the center of the story.
And as far as female nudity is concerned, women have no problems with it. We men are the ones who get bent out of shape about naked women.
Besides, the new name of the blog fits it better.
PS I know that the new title should read The Female Nude and The Art of Flash Fiction or even The Female Nude and the Art of Flash Fiction but I like the title better with all the first letters capitalized.
