I have no doubt that writing helped to keep me sane after I came back from Vietnam.
Hello my Flash Fiction Fanatics. Why do writers write? It’s an ancient question. I would say that one reason why we writers write is to make sense out of reality.
When so much of reality is horrible beyond comprehension, writing can help the writer to make sense of the world.
The best writing also helps the reader to make sense of the world.
And writing can do something else. It can remind us of how much beauty there is in the world, too.
Keep reading and keep writing.

The Writer As Messenger

The writer, whether consciously or subconsciously, is searching for answers. He or she uses words not only to express a certain view of reality, but to give structure to reality. For at its essence, reality has no structure. Nature has structure, but reality is not nature.
Reality is the never-ending flow of events. The writer acts as a messenger between reality and the reader.
