Hello, my brother and sister bloggers, readers, writers and my Flash Fiction Fanatics.  And a special shout-out to the students at the University of Pittsburgh.

The Old Soldier had a great time at karaoke at Del’s last night.  The crowd was into karaoke and most of the crowd got up to sing.

You can’t beat that with a stick!

Hello Writers, We Are All In This Together

The Pittsburgh Steelers lineup against the Bal...

Another lovely day in Pittsburgh, sunny with the high around 60.  What a devastating loss for the Steelers last night; but there is plenty of football to be played this season.

Hello hello hello, all my brother and sister bloggers, readers, writers and my Flash Fiction Fanatics.  As of this afternoon the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette has 975 hits this month.  I’m sure the hits will be over 1,000 by the end of the day.  Not bad for a small-niche blog.

I’m a blogger, but of course I’m a writer, too.  And the best thing that I can do to help my brother and sister writers is to showcase their work in the most dynamic flash fiction magazine on the internet.

So, don’t be bashful.  Send me something.  I publish erotic, mainstream and literary fiction and I would love to see some romance.

Fiction Submissions: Don’t Be Bashful

You know you want to submit a short story to the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette.  The Old Soldier is looking for erotica, mainstream and literary flash fiction.  Oh, how I wish some brave soul would submit some romance.  Yes, romance.

As a young writer, I submitted romance stories to Redbook (this is the modern spelling), Woman, Ladies Home Journal, Good House Keeping and True Romance.  I was just trying to get published anywhere.  Years of rejection notices will do that to you.  None of my romance stories were accepted.  But I’ve always wanted to publish romance on this blog.

F. Scott Fitzgerald is one of my favorite authors.  So, the Old Soldier knows a little bit about romance.  Just be sure to read and follow the submissions guidelines.  The Submissions tab is at the top of the page.

Keep reading and writing that flash fiction.
