According to research, vibrators are a woman’s favorite sex toy. These battery-operated devices have been around since the late 1800’s and by the 1900’s were sold as “Mother’s Little Helper” to help “hysteria” and to help put a “flush” in the cheeks. By the mid 1920’s the vibrators’ true purpose was discovered when they appeared in “stag” films and suddenly became taboo and shameful. This taboo remained in place until the sexual revolution of the 1960’s.
Research indicates that only 30 percent of women achieve orgasm through sexual intercourse. Vibrators may be recommended by sex therapists to women who have difficulty achieving an orgasm through masturbation, oral sex and/ or intercourse. “If you need a vibrator in order to have an orgasm, then bring your vibrator into the bedroom and use it with your partner,” says Ian Kerner, Ph.D and best-selling author of, “She Comes First”. She says that relying on your vibrator alone could be a “mental predisposition” more than anything else so the mere presence of your vibrator can help assure you that you will have an orgasm, let you stay more relaxed and allow you to really get into your romp. As time goes on, you can use it less and less as you mentally make the shift from only being able to have orgasms while alone with your vibrator, to being able to have orgasms while having sex with a partner.
According to research, sex toys can enhance sexual performance. For instance, using a vibrator to stimulate your clitoris when a man is performing oral sex can often bring a woman to levels of ecstasy and pleasure she has never experienced before. There are some men that may reach orgasm before their partner and as a result, are unable to continue with using their erect penis to pleasure her. Sex toys allow him to stimulate her quickly before he climaxes so this way she will feel satisfied. Sex toys make a great substitute partner for periods when one is in between sexual relationships or separated from each other for long periods of time.
