Well, I’ve got my two guest writers for September 2012. So, the Old Soldier has turned his attention to October 2012. My goal is to put together a team of writers who will provide this magazine with at least two pieces of content every month.
Poems and stories about sex are always popular; but so are pieces about relationships, marriage, dating and family. Of course, everything should be written with an adult audience in mind. And no fantasy or science fiction.
At the top of the page, Anything Goes is for non-fiction, Send Poetry is for poems and Submissions is for flash fiction. Please read and follow the guidelines. This is a paying market.

Hello hello hello, everyone! It’s around 9:30 p.m. and the Old Soldier is stretched out on the sofa with two pillows under his weary head as he watches the Steelers on television. It’s their last pre-season game.

Keep reading and keep writing that flash fiction.

Building Blocks Of The Short Story
Image via Wikipedia
A writer has to remember so many things and make so many decisions when writing a short story that it’s nice to have a list that you can just check out before you hit that send button.
But no list is absolute. Here are some suggestions that have worked for the Old Soldier over the years.
I know these parameters are pretty general, but they are meant to give you plenty of room for experimentation
Be sure to check out the flash fiction stories in the sidebar on the right.
