Flash Fiction And Everyday Life
A lot of students in my fiction and short story writing classes would turn in narratives full of outrageous people and exotic places, people they had never met and places they had never been to.
The stories of these imaginative writers were full of holes. There have been great stories written by writers who write about people and places they do not come across in real life; but I always encouraged my students to write about the kinds of people they really knew and the kinds of places they had really been to. And flash fiction is perfect for this kind of writing.
