The Old Soldier got a K LeRoy Irvis Fellowship in 2003 that paid for three years of graduate school in the writing program of the University of Pittsburgh and that also gave him a generous stipend to live off of for those three years all because of his flash fiction.
I know something about flash fiction.
Now the Old Soldier is the editor, publisher of the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette, the most dynamic flash fiction publication on the internet.
Join the excitement. Send me something. The Submissions tab for flash fiction is at the top of the page. We’re all in this together. Good luck.

Live Free, Write Flash Fiction
The Old Soldier is back from a nice walk on this lovely spring day and he is enjoying a few Twix candy bars as he relaxes stretched out on the sofa with two pillows under his weary head as he watches the news on television.

I stopped at the Carnegie Public Library and ended up in the Browsing Journal room like I usually do. And for the first time in years I looked through a copy of Interview Magazine. If I remember correctly, Andy Warhol started the magazine way back in the 60s or 70s. The magazine does interviews with and articles on the movers and shakers of popular culture.

The advertisers who advertise in the magazine make a big production of their ads, using high-fashion models and celebrities to sell their high-end products.
The Old Soldier uses nude women the same way, to push his product: the flash fiction short story.
